Mrs. Dixie Cody teaches Biology I
and II, Chemistry, and Fine Arts. Mrs.
Dixie is married to Dr. Jim Cody. They
have one daughter, Jamie, who is a
graduate of Bowling Green.

Mrs. Tommie Lou Stafford graduated
from LSU. She taught math for years but
now is the Guidance Counselor/Testing
Coordinator. She has been at Bowling
Green since January 1972. She has two
daughters who graduated from Bowling
Green. She has three grandsons, two who
attend Bowling Green, and one is a Baby
Buc in the new nursery. |

Mrs. Missy Varnado teaches World
Geography, English III, and is the
Treasure sponsor. Mrs. Missy has been at
Bowling Green several years. She is
married to Bobby Varnado and they have
three sons, Derick, Dylan, and Drew.
Derek is a graduate of Bowling Green and
Dylan and Drew attend Bowling Green. |

Mrs. Shandle Waskom teaches 7th and
8th grade Science, Consumer Chemistry, and Physical
Education. She also sponsors the Varsity
Cheerleader Squad. Mrs. Shandle is
married to Mark Waskom, and they have
three daughters, Brittany, Amber, and
Holly. |

Karen Bell, who
joined the BGS staff in 2008, teaches
English to 9th, 10th,
and 11th graders. Karen
retired after teaching after 29 years in
the public education system in Oklahoma,
where she taught english and reading to
junior high students. She holds a
Master’s Degree in Education, Reading
Specialist, from the University of
Oklahoma, plus 17 hours post graduate
courses; and a Bachelor’s Degree in
English from East Central, Ada, OK.
Karen also completed 6 hours credit
courses in secondary English, summer
2009, to update for the Louisiana teaching
certification. Karen moved to Louisiana
with her husband, Doug, who relocated to
southeast Louisiana with his job. They
love the area and the people. They have
three grown children, Chris Bell of
Houston, Ty Stevenson, U.S Navy,
Pensacola, and Sherri Jane Bell-Johnson
of Los Angeles.

Valarie Stafford Comeaux teaches
Junior High and High School math,
sponsors the yearbook and is the Junior
Beta sponsor. Valarie is also an
active member of the ABC club. She
is a 1989 graduate of Bowling Green and
a 1992 graduate of LSU. She is
married to John Comeaux, and they have
three boys attending BGS, Connor,
Crockett, and Cody. |

Mrs. Pam Penny has taught Spanish
and English for 35 years. She
teaches Spanish I and Spanish II at
Bowling Green. She is married to
James Harold Penny and has two grown
children and three grown step-children.
She is the grandmother of nine, one of
whom is in kindergarten at BGS. |
